As stewards of health and wellness through technology, the Cade Ventures team has been eager to take part in the movement that fuses the two: Digital Wellness. Not only is the space ripe for innovation, but the pursuit of an intentional and healthy relationship with technology represents Cade’s vision for the future: leveraging the best in connected hardware-software to improve the lives of consumers.
That’s why our third investment out of the fund is in a company that not only embodies this spirit, but is pioneering the movement: Daylight Computers. Led by founder Anjan Katta, Daylight is leading the way into a new era of personal computing, thoughtfully designed to support focus, health, and intentional living.
Today’s computers are unhealthy, distracting, shallow, and overall eroding our wellbeing - and the world is catching on. Experts like Andrew Huberman and Jonathan Haidt have been capturing public attention with their mission to enable healthier living for adults and adolescents, beginning with simplifying our technology. Yet incumbent tech giants like Apple have been unable or unwilling to minimize bright distractions (e.g., iPad night-mode fails to block all blue-light and thrives on a notification-driven ecosystem) and existing minimalist tech solutions fall short, offering limited capabilities and speed (e.g., Kindle’s E-ink has a slow refresh rate and disruptive ghosting effect).
Enter Daylight; Daylight is the world's first computer free of artificial blue light and designed to minimize distraction and maximize both productivity and wellbeing. Following 6 years of R&D, Daylight launched their first in-market product, the DC-1 tablet, in May 2024 to resounding success. With a proprietary LivePaper display, high-speed responsiveness, and custom SolOS with minimalist UI, intentional limitations, and curated apps, Daylight is solving key problems of knowledge work, health, and early brain development.
And it’s only the beginning. Daylight is building a computing ecosystem around their low-stimulation screens and a purposefully, designed distraction-free OS.
Cade is proud to invest alongside tech industry gurus (a growing number of customers-turned-investors), including Notion COO Akshay Kothari, Oculus co-founder Brendan Iribe, and Stripe COO Claire Hughes Johnson, among many others. We’re joining the movement to improve the wellbeing of adults and children through intentional technology, and we invite you to prioritize your Digital Wellness with Daylight.
